A Good Sense of Distaste

A long time since I have stepped back and pondered over “What Not to Wear” rather than “What to Wear”. Has the sense of distaste of the outside world improved from bad to better. Apparently not.

1) Is it walking in the garden or the garden walking by itself? While I am all for florals & frills (see the good ones here - 6th &7th) but when done in subtle, pleasing way. Here I think the flowers are both too big in number and too huge in size and that is what is making the gown so unappealing. Imagine wearing this to a red carpet or some other event. Oh well! Don’t imagine. It won’t be a pretty picture.
(P.S. – I like the color though. It is not in the face, jarring red that we usually see)

2) I am really on the fence for this. I like the fabric and I don’t mind the color but I think the main culprit here is the border. It is just so huge and has so many frills and gatherings, that it is much too overwhelming. The model is just managing somehow with her fierce expressions but anyone else is sure to get lost in it. Imagine if the belt is not there.

But since I can be crazy at times, lets poll this. What do you say (you can be as mean as you want to)

And, now passing the "Versatile Blogger" award which I received a few days back (see here) to the following beautiful bloggers.

1) Sherin at HiFashion
2) Katie at Fashion's Maven
3) Leia at Leia's Delights
4) Simratha at Vogue Vibes
5) Kiran at Fitness Solutions
6) Neelam at Being Zara&Zidan

Will be passing the rest of the awards very soon. I know I have been sitting on them for too long now.

That gown is one hot mess!! so is the saree!! and that belt is out of place..

eeew! The saree makes me nauseatic. WHo's the designer?? He/she must be out of business if he/she keeps designing like this

I would completely agree that both outfits area bit of a mess. That saree looks like it's about to eat that poor woman alive, and as for the red one, too much fluff and poof.

hey..thanks for dropping by..This is a chic space..me likey..:)..have to look around..about the clothes..I think I like to look at that frock..yes..its too much flowers for real practical clothing..even with smaller roses I don think it'd be a fit..but a few on border n hemline would be cute too..:)
Sari..I cant say anything..cos my eyes n brain are too overwhelmed by the whole thing to contemplate..plus that crystal waist band double spoiled it !:)
will be around..hope to see u too..:)

These are not only ugly but also ill-fitting..it's making the model look bad..which is really difficult to do! lol @ the last option on the poll! :P Btw these what not to wear posts are extremely entertaining! :P

Voted 1. The outfits are hilariously absurd.

You know in India flowery sari fashion has come up.There are big fabric flowers which are embded on the sari pallu..

lol @ the floral gown. its hideous indeed. i like the color too, like you said.. but yeah the flowers are huge and a lot in numbers...i believe in less-is-more.

the saari is quite crappy too.. yeah the border's the murderer!

the people who know exactly what not to wear are mostly the ones who dress right

from what i've understood abt fashion shows...not all are about showing wearable stuff...some are just exhibits of the artists creativity and are meant to shock and awe. The sellable /wearable range is presented in a diff show altogether.

But then i may b wrong :P

Ive seen a lot of white wedding dresses fused with red indian ones, Im not a big fan. But I can agree between the two, the red dress is better.

Ooooooo, thank you so much for the awards. Yay!

I agree with you on the clothes: both are far too much to wear for any occassion. Actually, the saree might be ok for a wedding, but that first dress is crazy.

The saree looks like a fuzzy garden creature and not in the best way possible! It looks like it has stuff growing on it. The saree is a fashion crime. The dress..I love the rose motif generally but in this case its rather overwhelming and OTT.

I love a person with a voice, so YOU GO! Personally I can live with the red dress, but the 2nd one is just too much (for me).
